Why build an airplane?
We're building it for several reasons.
First, I've always wanted to build a plane but I did not want to do it enough to spend 4,000 hours building something like a Vans' RV.
Second, I used to backpack and I miss being high in the mountains. This plane has the speed (150 mph) to get me to them and the short field and rough field performance to allow me to go into as difficult of landing area with my camping gear as I am willing to attempt.
This Blog is to document the building of a Rans S-21 Outbound Kit Airplane. The picture is of the Rans demonstrator which uses a 100 hp Rotax engine. We're planning on using a 180 ho Titan engine.
